This is both a personal and work related update as I’m going on maternity leave for a month (starting from when this blog is published) and that’ll affect how things are run here (read on to find out more).
This week my partner Brett and I will be welcoming our second baby into our lives. I’ll be having a cesarean due to complications from the birth of our first son, so my recovery is going to take a while. Luckily, we’ve got family visiting to support us during this time.
We celebrated our impending arrival at 36 weeks pregnant with a special photoshoot at Rivendell (Lord of the Rings filming location) with Yvonne Liew.
This time I wasn’t able to make myself a gown as the I was simply too fatigued and time poor with looking after my 3.5yo son whilst heavily pregnant. I was able to find a ‘bridesmaid’ maternity gown which my friend and corsetry student Nicki of Chameleon Costume adjusted for me (by changing the neckline and hemming it), thus personalizing it and making it a bit more “me” than an off-the-rack design. I styled the gown with the Valentina Pendant Set from the Vanyanís x Skadi Jewellery collection. It was a real treat to get dressed up and feel like *myself* for probably the first time in this whole pregnancy (and nice to know that my jewellery always fits, even when my body is going through such tremendous changes!).
Here’s a small selection of the family photos that Yvonne took for us. I’m so glad some loved ones dear to us helped arrange this photoshoot as it’s a special time in our lives and the new baby should be celebrated. I’m delighted with how the photos turned out!
Maternity Leave
As I’m sure you can understand, I’ll be taking some leave to adjust to new family life. As of the time you read this, the office will be closed.
The online store will remain open and orders will be shipped from 19-Aug-2024.
Any emails or questions relating to orders placed in the online shop will be replied to from 26-July-2024.
Our books are currently closed for new bespoke orders. Classes and new couture opportunities will likely be scheduled for 2025.

Thank you for sharing your family . I have watched you for a long time, since I first say your corsets on line (Facebook). I am elderly so I am not creating like I did in my younger days. I think you have done so very well in business and classes, nothing I am sure can be as fufilling and joyous as creating your family. Much more success and enjoy parenting. My babies have babies and I can still remember looking in to each one of them moments after birth. I remain close to my grandsons and now my grand daughter is getting married next April. The time passes so darn quickly, never a minute is lost though. Keeping the joy for generations, Carolyn
