Our busks are made in Germany and then engraved by hand in Melbourne (Australia)!
Inspired by the antique corsets of the Victorian era, these original Engraved Busks are created by Vanyanís and are the first of their kind in about 100 years! These high quality German ‘silver’ stainless steel busks have been carefully engraved with a delicate gold laurel leaf design on each loop of the busk. The gold laurel comes up beautifully. It’s not as bold as the black, but a little more subtle and very delicate. They’re perfect if you’re just wanting to add a little extra detail without being too ‘showy’. (For a super subtle effect consider the silver engraving.)
Using the very best of modern technology the pretty laurels come up crisp and clear on each loop and do not rub off or wear away. They are the perfect finishing touch for your special corset, whether you’re recreating an antique design or just love luxurious little details in your corsetry. Engraved Busks are not made anywhere else in the world – they are unique to Vanyanís and now available to you! We can’t possibly make corsets for everyone so have made these available to everyone so that anyone can enjoy these very special busks.

The loops have been expertly engraved with a two-tone antique black laurel design (reminiscent of Victorian corset details) and then transformed into a pendant (complete with sterling silver or 9ct yellow gold loop) and earrings (with solid sterling silver or 9ct yellow gold hooks hooks) by a talented jeweller. The silver pendant hangs on a delicate 50cm ‘Figaro’ sterling silver chain that adds detail, without detracting from the pendant. (Please note: the gold set does NOT include a chain). Whether you wear them as a whole set, or style them with jewellery you already have – the choice is yours with these unique, handmade pieces of luxury.
We wear our set everyday and several people have asked if the pendants are love lockets, as the cut out shape is similar to a keyhole. Isn't that lovely? Out of all the colours available (antique black, gold and silver) the silver is the most subtle. It really depends on the lighting as too how visible it is (in some lighting it is nearly invisible), so this colour is best suited to those wanting just a hint of detail (we find this particularly well suited for bridal corsets).

Wellington Corset Pattern Drafting: Part 2 [Date: TBC]
School Shop, ClassesBuilding on your pattern drafting knowledge you gained in Part One, in Corset Pattern Drafting Part Two you will learn how to draft your own overbust corset patterns. The pattern drafting skills you learn in this course can be applied to bridal bodices, couture gowns and corsets.
Fitting busts can be tricky, but they don't have to be. In this course you'll learn how to shape and support busts of all sizes. We'll share all our best tips and tricks with you so that you can create overbust patterns that fit perfectly, with a beautiful silhouette using the unique Vanyanís pattern drafting method. The process is broken into easy-to-understand steps, giving you the knowledge to make a pattern from anyone's measurements.
The focus of this class is to learn how to create overbust corset patterns from any measurements and then fit them perfectly. During the class you will learn how to make an overbust corset toile (mock-up) to test your pattern. We'll share all our best bust fitting secrets with you and show you how and where to apply changes to your toile. After the fitting, you'll learn how to accurately transfer those changes to your pattern.
At the end of this pattern drafting course you'll have a personalized overbust corset pattern to keep and the confidence and knowledge of how to fit and draft more patterns independently.

Wellington Mesh Corsetry Course [Date: TBC]
ClassesBook your place in this Mesh Corsetry Class and learn how to make your own steel-boned genuine corset using corsetry mesh. Building upon the knowledge you gained in previous Vanyanís courses, you'll learn how to work with sheer corsetry mesh and make external bone casings. Corsetry mesh is different than regular corset fabrics and requires an entirely different method of construction to ensure that your corset is strong and can be tightlaced. At the end of this corsetry course you'll have a custom fitted sheer black corset and personalised pattern to keep. You'll gain the confidence, knowledge and inspiration to build on your success and make more mesh corsets on your own. Receive expert guidance from an industry professional in a fun, warm environment. All shapes, sizes and ages (over 18) are welcome!
