    Travelling back in time 10 years ago, when I visited @somnolentimages in Scotland to create some magical photos together. This ensemble was something I made specifically for this photoshoot, challenging myself to only use supplies from my "stash" (no fabrics were purchased specifically for this gown). The metallic red lace had been waiting for years for this moment and it matched so well with the satin. The corset was a separate piece, worn over a dress, but made with the same fabrics. Whilst I'm glued to the editing chair finishing the last 26 lessons for my online Corset Making Course I thought I would share some photos and designs from my archive. I'm really enjoying picking out photos to share as my audience has grown a lot since I first shared these photos, and it's lovely to revisit these photoshoots.     💛 Do you like your corsets lined or unlined? 💛 Leave a comment and let me know I love how smooth a lined corset feels, and how neat it looks. Plus its a lovely way to personalize the corset as the lining can be your own little secret. But there's something so interesting about the look of an unlined corset, with all the inner workings on display. All the structure of the bone channels, waist tape and facing are so detailed (and when done properly) are equally neat. An unlined corset makes for a lighter weight garment too as there's one less layer of fabric. Usually a corset would be either lined or unlined (not both like this one is) but this is a special sample corset I made to demonstraight a variety of finishing techniques for my students who are learning with me in my online Corset Making Course (link in profile). . . . #Corsetmaking #VanyanisCorsetCourse #VanyanisSchoolOfCorsetry #LearnCorsetMaking #Corset

    A close look at some of the lace applique and beadwork on an underbust corset I made. The lace was cut out by hand from a length of fabric, then invisibly stitched down to the corset. The beads were then sewn by hand on top, carefully placed to create texture and visual interest. The gold beads remind me of sparks in the night sky above an open fire.... The gold beads were bought in a Paris bead shop on a visit long ago with @karolinalaskowskalingerie I remember walking into the shop and immediately knew I was in danger of spending too much 😅 I can't remember how much I spent, but it was significant 🥲 No regrets 💛 . . . #VanyanisCorset #corsetmaking #corset #laceapplique #corsetiere

    Corsetry has taken me all over the world and introduced me to many kindred spirits, and for that I am so grateful 💛 These photos featuring my 'Nadja' corset, were taken in Vienna by @jovanarikalo and modeled by Barbara of @royalblack_couture ✨️ (🎥 Swipe for Behind-the-scenes) This photoshoot (and my time in Vienna visiting Barbara) was so wonderful. Now that I have two young children, trips to Europe to take pretty photos with my friends is off the cards for a while. Fortunately I have a vast archive of photos that I can share with you, until I'm in a position to collaborate in more shoots like this again 😊 When I first started making corsets 22 years ago, I never imagined that these garments would become such an integral part of my life - holding my focus and passion for so long. Attending events such as the Oxford Conference of Corsetry (no longer running) introduced me to so other makers, and I found my people.
