Ebonique Black Satin Skirt with Pockets
Ready to Wear, SkirtsIMPORTANT: This item is on "clearance" and all sales are final.
At Vanyanís, we believe that elegance goes hand in hand with comfort and utility. This is why our decadent satin skirt has two generously deep hidden pockets - freeing you of the need for a clutch should you choose.
The skirt is cleverly cut to accentuate your waist and hips, without adding 'bulk' at the front. The luxurious satin is gathered at the back and sides, joining the flat front. The hemline is generous and you instantly want to swish about when you wear it. Why not wear a petticoat underneath for a vintage feel?
This skirt is the height of luxury and we've loved bringing a couture feel to this garment. The skirt is fully lined in cupro (a hypoallergenic, anti-static fabric made from the silky fibers of the cotton plant) which feels incredibly soft against your skin.
Christian Dior once said "You can wear black at any time. You can wear it at any age. You may wear it for almost any occasion." We couldn't agree more.

Wellington Corset Pattern Making: The Tape Method [Date: TBC]
Classes, School ShopCorset Pattern Making: The Tape Method is the perfect introduction to making corset patterns for those that may not have prior experience in flat pattern drafting or the time to invest in learning complex pattern drafting methods. In this course you will learn how to make a perfectly fitting "basic" corset pattern using the 'Tape Method'. Instead of taking extensive body measurements we will tape the body and develop the pattern in 3D before transferring it to paper (2D). After transferring it you'll learn some flat patterning skills to develop the pattern into a beautiful corset shape.
The methods taught in this course are very 'hands on' and there is little-to-no math's involved at all. If traditional pattern drafting feels too complicated, too structured, or you just want to use your hands to create, then the methods taught in this course are for you. This approach will help you learn what different figures look like in pattern form without the stress of wondering if you're getting it right or not. If you will be making a pattern for a body shape you've never patterned for before then these skills will help you level up quickly.
It's always helpful to learn more than one way to achieve something - it gives you the tools to pick and choose the best approach (for you) for any project. The pattern drafting skills you learn in this course can be applied to bridal bodices, couture gowns and corsets.
The focus of this class is to learn how to create an overbust corset pattern using the 'Tape Method' and then fit it perfectly. During the class you will learn how to make an overbust corset toile (mock-up) to test your pattern. We'll share all our best corset fitting secrets with you and show you how and where to apply changes to your toile. After the fitting, you'll learn how to accurately transfer those changes to your pattern. At the end of this pattern drafting course you'll have a personalized corset pattern to keep and the confidence and knowledge of how to fit and design more patterns independently.

Vanyanís Engraved Busk – Antique Black
Engraved Busks, School ShopOur busks are made in Germany and then engraved by hand in Melbourne (Australia)!
Inspired by the antique corsets of the Victorian era, these original Engraved Busks are created by Vanyanís and are the first of their kind in about 100 years! These high quality German 'silver' stainless busks have been carefully engraved with a delicate antique black laurel leaf design on each loop of the busk. The Antique Black engraving is a lovely fusion of old and new. From some angles the engraved laurel can appear gold and in direct light it appears black. It really does depend on the light and this lovely two-toned effect gives the busk a gorgeous antique feel.
Using the very best of modern technology the pretty laurels come up crisp and clear on each loop and do not rub off or wear away. They are the perfect finishing touch for your special corset, whether you're recreating an antique design or just love luxurious little details in your corsetry. Engraved Busks are not made anywhere else in the world - they are unique to Vanyanís and now available to you! We can't possibly make corsets for everyone so have made these available to everyone so that anyone can enjoy these very special busks.

Inspired by the antique corsets of the Victorian era, these original Engraved Busks are created by Vanyanís and are the first of their kind in about 100 years! These high quality German 'silver' stainless steel busks have been carefully engraved with a delicate gold laurel leaf design on each loop of the busk. The gold laurel comes up beautifully. It's not as bold as the black, but a little more subtle and very delicate. They're perfect if you're just wanting to add a little extra detail without being too 'showy'. (For a super subtle effect consider the silver engraving.)

Sewparts Glass Head Pins [1000 pieces]
Sewing SuppliesOur favourite pins are now available in single colour bulk packs - hooray! Choose either red OR white pins in these 1000 piece packets. We discovered these 'Glass Head Stretch Pins' years ago and haven't used anything else since! At Vanyanís we only stock sewing supplies that we use in our atelier and can personally recommend. In our opinion, they are the best and we use them for all of our sewing, whether we're making a couture corset or a bespoke coat. These pins are exceptionally great for corset making. They are super sharp and quite fine which means you're less likely to leave pin marks or holes in your fabric (it's always best to check on a scrap first). The glass head also means you can iron over them without it melting.
35mm x 2.5mm 1000 pieces per packet. Choose either red OR white pins. Made in Japan.
Using quality tools really does make a difference in your productivity and enjoyment of sewing. Once you try these you'll want to throw out all your other pins (like our corsetry students do!). Why not give them a go and see what a difference they make to your work.
[PLEASE NOTE: This product is a pre-order item - the product photo currently shows the 60 piece packet. A new photo will be updated ASAP showing the bulk packets.] -
