  • Pregnancy Corset Pattern [PREORDER]

    ,
[PRE-ORDER: Files will be emailed on or before Dec 31st, 2022]

The Vanyanís Pregnancy Corset Pattern is a stunning piece of corset engineering. Inspired by historical corsets, this pattern was designed and developed during the designers' own pregnancy (pictured). A pregnancy corset does not constrict the waist - it provides pain-relieving support to the belly, bust, back and hips. Elastic panels add flexibility and the adjustable side and back lacing expand as the pregnancy progresses. The lacing allows for a size increase of up to 10" making it the perfect solution to provide comfortable support to a growing pregnant body.

Available in one size (see the tabs below for sizing notes). Laced closed, it fits: Bust: 42", Waist: 32", High Hips: 39" (expands up to 10").

This digital pattern is beautifully designed and includes the following:

    1. Version 'A' is a 'flat layout' (showing the detailed stitching and bone placement [and types]).
    2. Version 'B' is a simple 'working' pattern that can easily be adjusted to your size.
    3. Version 'C' shows the seam allowance and grainline placement.
    4. A pattern for a belly support band (for use in the third trimester)
    5. Lacing instructions for the back and sides
Instructions are not included, but you will find some helpful notes from the designer to assist you. This would be a complex project for an experienced or adventurous maker.

This pattern is licensed for personal use only (please refer to the tabs below for full terms of use). Please use #VanyanisPregnancyCorsetPattern when posting your projects on Instagram, as we'd love to see your creations!

  • Waist Cincher Corset Pattern

    ,

The Vanyanís Cincher Corset Pattern features a pointed front, two framing points at the back and a dramatic silhouette. This corset pattern has seven panels (per side) and is patterned to lace up closed on the wearers body (if you prefer a 2" lacing gap, simply select one size smaller). It is a shorter style of corset and allows the wearer lots of mobility.

Initially developed for Vanyanís RTW Corsets, then later used in our classes, this pattern comes with three options for a front busk placket (and accompanying cutting guide) so you can use different methods for your unique creations.

The pattern has been designed to be as user friendly as possible. Seam allowances are clearly marked on all panels as well as a helpful letter system across of the top of the panel pieces (to help you sew the panels together correctly). We recommend sewing a toile (mock-up) to check and adjust the fit, before commencing your final project.

Available in corset sizes 18" to 44" it can fit natural waists of 20" to 50". To work out which size you'll need, please refer to the size chart located in the tabs below. This pattern is sold in "packs" of three sizes and comes with corset lacing instructions. Sewing instructions are not included. Royal Black has an excellent sew-a-long on her Patreon, which we highly recommend. This pattern is licensed for personal use only (please refer to the tabs below for full terms of use).

Once purchased, the files will be immediately emailed to you as a PDF in A4 format, so you can print it out and get started with your waist cincher straight away. Tip: make sure you print the file at "100%", not "shrink to fit". There is a printed scale measurement on each page so you can check that it has printed correctly.

The files will be sent from sales@vanyanis.com so make sure you add this email to your address book so your patterns don't end up in the 'spam' folder!

The corset pattern has six panels (per side) and is patterned to lace up closed on the wearers body (if you prefer a 2" lacing gap, simply select one size smaller). The pattern has been created to be as user friendly as possible. Wellington Corset Pattern Making: The Tape Method [Date: TBC]

    ,

Corset Pattern Making: The Tape Method is the perfect introduction to making corset patterns for those that may not have prior experience in flat pattern drafting or the time to invest in learning complex pattern drafting methods. In this course you will learn how to make a perfectly fitting "basic" corset pattern using the 'Tape Method'. Instead of taking extensive body measurements we will tape the body and develop the pattern in 3D before transferring it to paper (2D). After transferring it you'll learn some flat patterning skills to develop the pattern into a beautiful corset shape.

The methods taught in this course are very 'hands on' and there is little-to-no math's involved at all. If traditional pattern drafting feels too complicated, too structured, or you just want to use your hands to create, then the methods taught in this course are for you. This approach will help you learn what different figures look like in pattern form without the stress of wondering if you're getting it right or not. If you will be making a pattern for a body shape you've never patterned for before then these skills will help you level up quickly.

It's always helpful to learn more than one way to achieve something - it gives you the tools to pick and choose the best approach (for you) for any project. The pattern drafting skills you learn in this course can be applied to bridal bodices, couture gowns and corsets.

The focus of this class is to learn how to create an overbust corset pattern using the 'Tape Method' and then fit it perfectly. During the class you will learn how to make an overbust corset toile (mock-up) to test your pattern. We'll share all our best corset fitting secrets with you and show you how and where to apply changes to your toile. After the fitting, you'll learn how to accurately transfer those changes to your pattern. At the end of this pattern drafting course you'll have a personalized corset pattern to keep and the confidence and knowledge of how to fit and design more patterns independently.

Receive expert guidance from an industry professional in a fun, warm environment. All shapes, sizes and ages welcome!

    ,

Our busks are made in Germany and then engraved by hand in Melbourne (Australia)! The busks are currently being engraved-to-order. Please allow up to 4 weeks for order processing.

Inspired by the antique corsets of the Victorian era, these original Engraved Busks are created by Vanyanís and are the first of their kind in about 100 years! These high quality German 'silver' stainless busks have been carefully engraved with a delicate antique black laurel leaf design on each loop of the busk. The Antique Black engraving is a lovely fusion of old and new. From some angles the engraved laurel can appear gold and in direct light it appears black. It really does depend on the light and this lovely two-toned effect gives the busk a gorgeous antique feel.

Using the very best of modern technology the pretty laurels come up crisp and clear on each loop and do not rub off or wear away. They are the perfect finishing touch for your special corset, whether you're recreating an antique design or just love luxurious little details in your corsetry. Engraved Busks are not made anywhere else in the world - they are unique to Vanyanís and now available to you! We can't possibly make corsets for everyone so have made these available to everyone so that anyone can enjoy these very special busks.

These high quality German 'silver' stainless steel busks have been carefully engraved with a delicate gold laurel leaf design on each loop of the busk. The gold laurel comes up beautifully. It's not as bold as the black, but a little more subtle and very delicate. They're perfect if you're just wanting to add a little extra detail without being too 'showy'. (For a super subtle effect consider the silver engraving.)

These high quality German 'silver' stainless busks have been carefully engraved with a delicate silver laurel leaf design on each loop of the busk. Out of all the colours available (antique black, gold and silver) the silver is the most subtle. It really depends on the lighting as too how visible it is (in some lighting it is nearly invisible), so this colour is best suited to those wanting just a hint of detail (we find this particularly well suited for bridal corsets).

For more information about our busks check out the 'tabs' below. The busks are currently being engraved-to-order. Please allow up to 4 weeks for order processing.

  • Sewparts Glass Head Pins [1000 pieces]

Our favourite pins are now available in single colour bulk packs - hooray! Choose either red OR white pins in these 1000 piece packets. We discovered these 'Glass Head Stretch Pins' years ago and haven't used anything else since! At Vanyanís we only stock sewing supplies that we use in our atelier and can personally recommend. In our opinion, they are the best and we use them for all of our sewing, whether we're making a couture corset or a bespoke coat. These pins are exceptionally great for corset making. They are super sharp and quite fine which means you're less likely to leave pin marks or holes in your fabric (it's always best to check on a scrap first). The glass head also means you can iron over them without it melting.

35mm x 2.5mm 1000 pieces per packet. Choose either red OR white pins. Made in Japan.

Using quality tools really does make a difference in your productivity and enjoyment of sewing. Once you try these you'll want to throw out all your other pins (like our corsetry students do!). Why not give them a go and see what a difference they make to your work.

[PLEASE NOTE: This product is a pre-order item - the product photo currently shows the 60 piece packet. A new photo will be updated ASAP showing the bulk packets.]
